During the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Toyohisa Shimazu serves as the rear guard for his retreating troops. In a critical moment, he sustains severe injuries and unexpectedly finds himself in a modern, pristine white corridor. Confronted by a composed individual named Murasaki and surrounded by countless doors on either side, Toyohisa is drawn into the nearest door, transporting him to a realm vastly different from his own.
This unfamiliar land is inhabited by a variety of fantastical beings, including warriors from different periods in Toyohisa's world who were presumed to be deceased. Quickly forming bonds with the notorious warlord Nobunaga Oda and the ancient archer Yoichi Suketaka Nasu, Toyohisa discovers the political turmoil gripping the continent. They realize that they have been summoned as "Drifters" to confront the "Ends," individuals responsible for the creation of the Orte Empire, who seek to obliterate the Drifters. As the Ends gain strength, the Empire intensifies its persecution of elves and other demihumans. In this new world, Toyohisa and his unconventional band of heroes must engage in a war to aid the Empire's inhabitants, safeguard the land for themselves, and confront the Ends.
