Recognized for her resemblance to the character Sadako from The Ring series, Sawako Kuronuma earns the moniker "Sadako" and is mistakenly perceived as eerie and malevolent, despite her gentle and timid disposition. Desiring to forge friendships and lead a typical life, Sawako is naturally drawn to the cheerful and outgoing Shouta Kazehaya, the most popular boy in her class. Since their initial encounter, Sawako has admired Kazehaya's ability to command attention and yearns to emulate his sociable nature.
When Kazehaya arranges a class-wide test of courage and encourages her participation, Sawako views this as an opportunity to connect with her peers, particularly Ayane Yano and Chizuru Yoshida. With each interaction and emotion she encounters, Sawako believes that meeting Kazehaya has sparked positive changes within her. Unbeknownst to Sawako, her presence has also wrought changes in Kazehaya.
