Kazuya Kinoshita, a 20-year-old college student, finds himself devastated when his cheerful and bright girlfriend, Mami Nanami, abruptly ends their relationship, leaving him feeling heartbroken and alone. In an attempt to ease his pain, he turns to an online app to rent a girlfriend. Enter Chizuru Mizuhara, whose beauty and charming personality quickly captivate Kazuya.
However, upon discovering negative reviews about Chizuru from other clients, Kazuya becomes convinced that her warm demeanor was merely a facade to manipulate his emotions. He rates her poorly, provoking Chizuru to confront him about his hypocrisy and reveal her true feisty nature. Their heated exchange is interrupted when Kazuya learns that his grandmother has collapsed.
Rushing to the hospital, they find Kazuya's grandmother in stable condition. When questioned about Chizuru's identity, Kazuya impulsively claims they are in a romantic relationship, prompting Chizuru to reluctantly play along. As they navigate this charade, Kazuya's unresolved feelings for Mami complicate their arrangement. How long can they maintain this facade of being a couple amidst Kazuya's lingering emotions?
