Who is Imu in One Piece?

Imu (also spelled "Im" in some translations) is a member of the Nerona family and one of the original Twenty monarchs who founded the World Government eight hundred years ago. They are introduced as the true ruler of the World Government, a secretive figure who holds ultimate authority over the Five Elders (Gorosei).

Who is Imu One Piece

Imu first appears in chapter 906 of the manga and episode 885 of the anime, during the Levely Arc. This introduction reveals a powerful, hidden force operating behind the scenes, establishing him as a major antagonist in both the final saga and the overall "One Piece" series.

Imu’s full name has not been officially confirmed, but a significant theory is proposed in chapter 1086. Emporio Ivankov suggests that Imu might be "Saint Imu of House Nerona", one of the original Founding 20 who established the World Government.

Appearance and Abilities

Imu is typically depicted with their face hidden, often in a shadowed or veiled manner. They are seen sitting on the Empty Throne in Pangaea Castle, symbolizing their supreme, albeit hidden, authority.

Notably, Imu possesses one of the Ancient Weapons, powered by Dr. Vegapunk's "Mother Flame", capable of annihilating entire islands, as demonstrated by the destruction of the Lulusia Kingdom.

Imu has demonstrated the ability to transform into a massive, bestial, vaguely humanoid creature that can consume fire. They can also control a sharp, arrowhead-shaped appendage or tentacle used for impalement, strong enough to severely injure the Logia user Sabo.

While it's unclear if this power comes from a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, it’s evident that the Five Elders' transformations are linked to awakened Mythical Zoan fruits.
