After completing six years of witch training, Nico Wakatsuki returns to her hometown to begin life on her own. As a newly certified witch, she must now choose a familiar. But unlike others who typically choose animals, Nico sets her sights on something different—her childhood friend, Morihito “Moi” Otogi, who also happens to be an ogre. Though strongly against becoming anyone’s servant, Morihito reluctantly agrees after learning that disobeying a witch's command would trigger a curse turning him into a bizarre cow-tiger creature.
With Morihito's father away on business and Nico’s mother remaining in the Witches' Holy Land, the two teens end up living together. Nico is thrilled to be under the same roof as her longtime crush, while Morihito finds her magical blunders and chaotic energy more troublesome than endearing. As a looming prophecy warns of disaster awaiting Nico within the year, Morihito must protect her not only as her familiar, but also as her dedicated bodyguard.
